A very young track and field team will rely heavily on the distance running of senior Jennifer Pohlig and the multitalents of a good freshman class this spring.
Pohlig, a senior, is expected to cap an impressive year with her best outdoor season. As a junior, Pohlig swept the two-mile and mile at the RVD meet, establishing a district record in the two-mile event. She placed ninth in the Group AAA cross-country meet last fall and qualified for the Group AAA indoor meet last month.
Pulaski County expects consistent scores from Susan Rudisill, who qualified for the state indoor high jump, and Tenisha Marchbank, who will long jump, triple jump, run the 100 and 200 sprints and possibly the 400 relay.
The future looks bright for the Cougars, who will get contributions from talented freshmen like Toni Wright in the hurdles and field events, Renee Ridout in the hurdles and Leanna Blevins in the distance events.
