WOMEN'S PRO TEAM TO VISIT CHARLOTTE

The Colorado Silver Bullets, a female professional baseball team that will compete against men, will play their first game May 8 in Charlotte, N.C., the team announced Thursday.

Managed by former Atlanta Braves knuckleballer Phil Niekro, they will face the Northern League All-Stars.

The Silver Bullets have filled 24 dates of their 50-game schedule against men's minor-league, semi-pro and college teams; their opener will be telecast live by ESPN2.

Of the 49 women who originally reported to Orlando, 30 still are vying for 20-25 roster spots.
