COAL CONFERENCE SCHEDULED OCT. 10-11

The 16th annual Virginia Coal Council international conference, "Appalachian Coal: International Energy," will be held Oct. 10-11 at the Martha Washington Inn.

U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Hazel O'Leary has been invited to be the keynote speaker. Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Abingdon, co-sponsor of the event, also will participate.

The conference will concentrate on coal producers; domestic and international consumers; the latest in technology, research and development; and transportation. The attendance fee is $250 for council members and $300 for others.
