EMORY & HENRY HONORS CITIZENS

Emory & Henry College honored four Southwest Virginians and a benefactor of the college during Charter Day activities Thursday.

The college awarded service citations to Doris Aven Minton of Abingdon, a retired teacher active in volunteer work; David A. Rouse of Chilhowie, a businessman who has played a pivotal role in the industrial development of Smyth County; and Gary G. and Susan Crowgey Crookshank of Emory, a couple who restored a historic building in the Emory community and established a restaurant there.

A special citation went to Corella Bonner, representing the Bonner Foundation, which has funded the Bonner Scholars program at Emory & Henry. - Staff report
