MAN IN COMA AFTER TRUCK FLIPS

An Ironto man was seriously injured Friday night after the truck he was driving flipped in the median strip of Interstate 81 near the Montgomery County/Roanoke County line, according to state police.

Charles Taylor, 18, was flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition in a coma late Friday, a nursing supervisor said.

A witness to the single-vehicle wreck told state police that Taylor's truck flipped at least 15 times, Trooper D.I. Compton said. Taylor apparently lost control of his truck after passing a tractor-trailer, he said.

Taylor, who was on his way to work in Roanoke, was wearing a seat belt, and speeding was not a factor in the crash, Compton said.
