BURMA DISSIDENT GETS VISIT WITH HUSBAND

The British husband of detained opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi arrived Sunday for their first reunion since Christmas. The 1991 Nobel Peace Prize winner has been under house arrest since 1989.

Last month, U.S. Rep. Bill Richardson, D-N.M., became the first non-family member to visit Suu Kyi.

The decision by the Burmese military to allow Richardson's visit, along with its release of about 2,000 prisoners, has raised hopes that Burmese authorities are reassessing their hard-line policies.
