SHOWTIME FOR LYNCH, TOO

It was Magic Johnson's night, but George Lynch made a little bit of history, too.

Johnson brought his dazzling smile to the NBA's coaching ranks, guiding the Los Angeles Lakers to a 110-101 victory over Milwaukee in his sideline debut.

Lynch, a first-year pro from Roanoke, scored a career-high 30 points as he became the first Lakers rookie since Johnson to score 30 or more in a game. Lynch was a key to LA's pressure defense and scored many of his points in transition.

Doug Christie added 20 points for the Lakers, and Vlade Divac had 18 points and 19 rebounds.

Reserve Todd Day scored all but four of his 25 points in the second half to lead the Bucks, who trailed by 36 points before cutting their deficit to seven in the final minute.
