2. Rule 109 was introduced in ``Rivals,'' the second-season ``DS9'' episode in which Martus (Chris Sarandon) opened a bar to compete with Quark's.

4. John Neville, the veteran British actor perhaps best known to science fiction/fantasy fans for ``The Adventures of Baron Munchausen'' (1989), portrayed Newton; Jim Norton appeared as Einstein; and Hawking played himself.

5. Rand, a yeoman on ``Trek''-classic, had risen in rank to chief petty officer by the time this film was made.

6. Harve Bennett is the man behind those many credits. He is currently in Australia, producing the second season of ``Time Trax.''
