HOTEL WANTS TO REINSTATE WOMAN WITH MUSTACHE

Officials of the Ritz-Carlton Hotel said Tuesday they want to reinstate a woman who claimed she was fired because she has a mustache.

"We are profoundly sorry that this incident ever happened," Larry Sternberg, general manager of the hotel, said at a news conference.

Licia Joy Galinsky, 30, and her former supervisor, Roy Peterson, filed a complaint last week with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

They said they were wrongfully fired because she has a mustache and he did not make her get rid of it.

The complaint was against both the Ritz-Carlton Hotel and the pair's employer, Atlanta-based Total Audio Visual Services, which has a contract with the hotel.

"We realize now that we were not as sensitive in this matter as we should have been, and we want to right the wrong," Sternberg said.
