ETC. ROANOKE PLAYER ADVANCES IN TENNIS

K.J. Hippensteel of Roanoke advanced to the quarterfinals of the PowerAde Easter Bowl junior tennis tournament in Miami by upsetting fourth-seeded Andrew Park 5-7, 6-0, 6-1.

Twelfth-seeded Hippensteel plays again today in the 14-under bracket of the prestigious junior tournament.

The Virginia state AAU 16-and-under boys' basketball tournament will be played in Roanoke on April 8-10 and 23, with 24 teams competing at four gymnasiums.

Early rounds through the quarterfinals will be played April 8-10 at Patrick Henry, William Fleming, Roanoke Catholic high schools and Lucy Addison Middle School.

The semifinals and championship rounds will be played April 23 at William Fleming.
