81 members join area chamber

CHRISTIANSBURG - Eighty-one new members joined the Christiansburg-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce as a result of the chamber's recent membership drive. Joanne Palmer of Owens & Company, Realtors was the top producer and winner of two airline tickets to Las Vegas.

Kroger to buy Volvo-GM tractors

ROANOKE - The Kroger Company will purchase 79 tandem axle conventional and cab-over 1994 road tractors from the Volvo-GM Heavy Truck Corporation in Dublin. Kroger's annual contract for road tractors has been awarded to Volvo-GM since 1990, and the company's total purchase of Virginia products and services in 1993 was more than $100 million.

Century 21 honored for sales excellence

PULASKI - Century 21 Home Town Realty, 7 Fifth St., was recently honored for sales excellence during 1993 by Century 21 of the Mid-Atlantic States Southwest District. The office was named the 1993 top office in sales volume and listing and sales transactions for the district.

Century 21 Old Virginia, Ltd., of Dublin was named the 1993 top office in recruiting for the Mid-Atlantic States Southwest District.

Landscapers praised for highway work

PULASKI - Gregory Seeding & Landscaping Inc. of Pulaski has been recognized by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for the high quality of performance on highway projects in the past year. The firm is owned by Betty Gregory of Pulaski and provides roadside development, erosion control and landscaping services to VDOT.

Doctor Video has swap program

CHRISTIANSBURG - Doctor Video, an authorized Nintendo repair center at 890 Radford St., has started a Power Swap-Instant System Repair program. Players now have the option of swapping their malfunctioning Nintendo control deck or Game Boy for a re-manufactured unit, for a low service cost, in lieu of waiting for their product to be repaired.
