2 NationsBank branches to merge NationsBank Corp. said Wednesday it

will combine its Williamson Road banking office with the Crossroads branch at 5002 Williamson Road, N.W., effective June 24.

The branch that will close is at 3201 Williamson Road.

The bank said all loan and deposit accounts at the Williamson Road branch will transfer automatically to the Crossroads office on the effective date without further action by customers.

Safe-deposit boxes will be moved as well unless customers request otherise. Customers have the option of having their boxes moved to any of the bank's 10 other branches in the Roanoke Valley.

Douglas Waters, regional executive office, said NationsBank is taking the action to streamline its operations.

Lewis Nelson, vice president of NationsBank in Roanoke, said all affected employees have been placed in other jobs. He said no jobs will be lost as a result of the consolidation.

USAir Group Inc. said Wednesday it has promoted former TWA executive Frank L. Salizzoni to president and chief operating officer. Salizzoni has been USAir's chief financial officer and an executive vice president since he joined the company in 1990. He assumes the presidency from Seth E. Schofield, who will continue as chairman and chief executive of the Arlington-based carrier.

U.S. stock and financial markets will be closed Friday for the Good Friday holiday. The Roanoke Times & World-News, however, will publish market tables on its regular schedule, reporting Thursday's trading on Friday morning and the weekly summaries in Saturday's paper.
