More tax revenue

BLACKSBURG - Wyatt farm, a 96-acre planned subdivision off North Main Street, is expected to add more than $20 million to the Blacksburg tax base when its 101 lots are developed.

Collaboration between the town and the developer has improved the sewer service to the Mount Tabor area by replacing two old pump stations with a more efficient station with greater capacity.

"Wyatt Farm has been carefully planned to include over 30 acres of open space with bike paths, walking trails, a nice pond site and special small neighborhood nodules created by the innovative use of the open space concept," said Realtor Joe Jones of Raines Real Estate.

The Wyatt Farm project has incorporated many concepts of the town's recent open-space planning effort. Greenways, open space and multipurpose trails add to the quality of life for residents of the project and all the citizens of Blacksburg.

Lot sales are planned to begin within 60 days. The average lot size will be a half-acre with town water, sewer and natural gas.

The farm has been in the Wilson family since the 1800s. Family members are now developing the site.
