LOA RECEIVES GRANT, SEEKS COMPANIONS

The LOA Area Agency on Aging recently was awarded a $2,500 grant to begin an emergency meals program.

The program will provide immediate response to people with a short-term need.

The agency is seeking people, age 60 or older with limited incomes, to give four hours a day as part of the Senior Companion Program.

Participants will receive a tax-free allowance, paid holidays and paid vacations. Companions are needed for seniors in Roanoke, Botetourt and Craig Counties and the Alleghany Highland area.
