INMATE MAY GO HOME TO DIE

Melvin Lynn Jones, sentenced in 1992 to 48 years in prison for securities fraud, is suffering from cancer and may be allowed to come home to die.

Circuit Judge James F. Ingram ruled Thursday that Jones, 64, could go to the Danville City Jail from the Powhatan Correctional Center.

Ingram said he then would rule on releasing him from custody for 90 days on the condition that Jones be confined to his home or to a hospital.
