Agnew led all 100 laps as he captured the Late Model Stock Car feature of the Huff Petroleum/Chevron 200 at New River Valley Speedway.
The win was a track record-tying 12th of the season for Agnew. It also moved him one step closer to his third track title in four years.
The hard work for Agnew came in the first 11 laps. Starting his Chevrolet Lumina from the ouside pole, Agnew slipped in front of pole-sitter Tim McGuire of Roanoke as soon as the green flag dropped.
For the next 10 laps, Agnew ran the high line while McGuire and his Chevrolet had the low line. On lap 11, Agnew complete the pass.
Once clearly in front, Agnew began to build a lead. It had reached six seconds when Kenny Wagner spun on lap 65.
The caution period bunched the field up - temporarily. After the green flag dropped on lap 69, Agnew resumed stretching out his advantage. By the end of the race, it was back up to five seconds over runner-up McGuire, who had his best finish of the season.
Rounding out the top five were Tony McGuire of Roanoke, Ronnie Thomas of Christiansburg and Ray Young of Bassett.
Rock Harris started from the pole and led every lap in the 50-lap Limited Sportsman race. It was the eighth win of the year for the Yadkinsville, N.C., driver. Dave Blessing was second and Tam Topham third.
K.J. Bishop was awarded the victory in the 25-lap Modified Mini Stock race after apparent winner Tony Howell was disqualified. It was the first win of the year for the Christiansburg driver. Wayne Lawson moved up to second and Eddie Rankin to third.
Ray Sowers qualified fastest, drew the pole position when the top six qualifiers were shuffled and led every lap in the 25-lap Mini Stock race. It was the Floyd driver's fourth win. Kevin Light was awarded second and Paul Vaught third after apparent runner-up Jay McCray was disqualified.
Grump Wills took the lead on the eighth lap and never looked back in the 25-lap Pure Stock race. It was the second straight win for the driver from Bozoo, W.Va. Barry Nolen was second and Robbie Cundiff third.
