ROCKY GAP - The Eagles used a balanced attack and a tough matchup zone defense to defeat the Shawnees in a non-district game.
Rocky Gap got 13 points a piece from Nancy Tupper, Amanda Sarver and Amanda Clark. Clark added 11 rebounds and five steals.

BASSETT - Kim Hairston scored 14 of her game-high 16 points in the first half as the Bengals rolled past the Bulldogs in the opener for both Piedmont District teams.
Heather Burke scored 13 for Bassett and Tasha Harrison added 11.

HILLSVILLE - Jennifer Watkins scored six of her nine points during a decisive 6-0 run that helped the Cavaliers hand the Maroon Tide its first loss in a non-district matchup.
Watkins' flurry gave Carroll County (3-1) an eight-point lead. Dineen Jessup added 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Cavaliers.
Tammy Cox led Galax (3-1) with a game-high 21 points.

NARROWS - The Green Wave jumped on the Spartans with full-court pressure and led by 28 points late in the third quarter before cruising home with a non-district victory. Suzanne Webb scored 26 points, 16 of them in the first half, to lead Narrows (1-1). Becky Turner had five steals.
Heather Wilburn led (0-1) Giles with 16 points.
