AMERICAN TROOPS REACH BELGIUM

Former U. S. senator George Norris, 83, one fo the nation's leading liberals and 'father' of the Tennessee Valley Authority, died from the after effects of a cerebral hemorrhage at his home in McCook, Neb.

Two American columns rolled into Belgium, moving to within 46 miles of Brussels and capturing the road hub of Tournai. Two other U. S. armored columns moved to the German frontier. Later in the week, British troops would capture both Brussels and Antwerp.
