IN SERVICE

Seaman Apprentice Michael J. McSherry, son of Thomas and Margaret mcSherry of 718 Mason Road, Vinton, was recently chosen as Bluejacket of the Quarter aboard the mine ship USS Avenger, based in Charleston, S. C.

McSherry, a 1992 graduate of William Byrd High School, was chosen as the top performer among all the sailors assigned to the command.

SSG. Kimberly D. Parr of Ronaoke was selected as the outstanding headquarters personnel technician of the year for 1993.

Parr was nominated for a superb record of performance with the West Virginia Air National Guard.
