CHRISTIANSBURG - "Taking Care of Business," a trade show sponsored by the Christiansburg-Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, will be held Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the New River Valley Mall.
The event co-sponsored by the Montgomery Regional Hospital, the New River Valley Mall and the News includes training for participants, a show guide listing all exhibitors, a health seminar, a business-dress fashion show and entertainment.
The exhibition fee is $400 for booths in the center court, $300 for booths in the mall concourses. Booth dividers, a table and chairs and an identification sign will be provided. Chamber of commerce members will receive a $100 discount on either location.

Sole Mate opens
BLACKSBURG - Jane and Gina Bonomo recently opened a new store on University City Boulevard across the parking lot from Bonomo's women's clothing store.
The new store, Sole Mate, will carry primarily shoes, but also handbags, hats, jewelry and other accessories.
The mother-daughter pair hope to continue serving Bonomo's customers at the new location and also attract a more contemporary clientele with different fashion lines.
"This shoe store is filling a niche for better women's shoes that has been missing in the area," said Gina Bonomo.

CHRISTIANSBURG - The First National Bank of Christiansburg is a new member of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta.
As a member and stockholder, First National will be eligible to use the credit and corresponding banking services of the Federal Home Loan Bank and will have access to an additional source of low-cost funds for home financing.

BLACKSBURG - The National Bank of Blacksburg reported income of $1.5 million for the first half of 1994, showing a 19.7 percent increase over the same period in 1993.
James G. Rakes, president and chief executive officer, attributes the higher earnings to increasing loan demand and improving loan quality.
Rug store
FAIRLAWN - Wholesale Rug, a new rug store specializing in manufacturer's closeouts, has opened on Belspring Road in Fairlawn.
The store's stock includes foreign and American made rugs of all sizes.
MRI at Radford
RADFORD - Magnetic resonance imaging is now available 5 days a week at Radford Community Hospital.
The new schedule will give New River Valley residents with the most complete MRI services in the region.
Cellular network
CHRISTIANSBURG - Blue Ridge Cellular announced the completion of a new network that allows for better call reception outside the local market.
In addition to better reception, customers will keep calling features, such as call forwarding, as they travel. Users will no longer need to know the location of the person they wish to call.
