ALLEGHANY CABLE OPERATIONS SOLD

CFW Communications Co., a Waynesboro-based diversified telecommunications company, said Friday it has agreed to acquire the coaxial cable television operations in Alleghany County, Clifton Forge, Covington and Iron Gate from Sammons Communications of Virginia Inc.

Sammons serves about 7,100 customers in Alleghany County. The transaction is subject to approval by local governments and the Federal Communications Commission. The FCC consent is necessary for CFW to operate both cable television and telephone businesses in the county

Terms were not disclosed. The companies expect to complete the acquisition in early 1995.
