CAVE SPRING TOPS MARTINSVILLE

After losing 14 games in a row, Cave Spring High School's football team has changed its fortunes.

The Knights, the fifth-ranked team in Timesland, rolled Martinsville 25-8 Friday night, as quarterback Jeff Lang completed six-of-seven passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns.

The Knights are 2-0; Friday's loss was the season opener for Martinsville.

After spotting the Bulldogs an 8-0 lead, Cave Spring reeled off 25 unanswered points, including 17 after halftime.

``It wasn't easy,'' said Knights coach Steve Spangler. ``Our execution was good at the end, but sloppiness is what got us in the hole in the first place.''
