The Blue Ridge Safety Network will sponsor a seminar on construction safety and overhead high-voltage lines Tuesday at the Virginia Department of Transportation auditorium, 731 Harrison Ave., Salem.
The free seminar, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., will include dinner, sponsored by Wesco Inc. of Salem. The program also will include a presentation by the Miss Utility program.
Other safety programs are planned by the Blue Ridge Safety Network, a pilot program of the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry that teams the safety departments of large industries as mentors with smaller companies.
Those programs will include: another on high-voltage safety Sept. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Virginia Power in Fishersville, and a program on locking out and tagging controls of hazardous energy sources during repair work, to be held Thursday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Safety Council of Southwest Virginia in Roanoke.

Bankruptcy Court receives 3 petitions
Three petitions for bankruptcies with business affiliations have been filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for Western Virginia at Roanoke. One of them is a personal bankruptcy that the court listed as a business because it has commercial connections and could be of interest to business creditors and customers.
Double R Coal Co. Inc. of Oakwood filed for reorganization and protection from creditors, estimating both assets and liabilities at less than $50,000.
PJ's Restaurant and Lounge Inc., which formerly operated at Pounding Mill in Tazewell County, filed for liquidation. Phyllis Proffett, president, said the company had no assets and liabilities of $88,227.
Eddie W. Hill and Pamela A. Hill filed for a wage-earner plan for repayment of debts, listing assets of $73,180 and liabilities of $81,082. Eddie Hill does business as Lawn Wizard.

ITT Night Vision of Roanoke County said it has signed its first 250 authorized law enforcement and consumer dealers in the North American market for its Night Mariner, night-vision equipment for boaters, and its Night Enforcer for law enforcement officers. The announcement does not include the new Night Ranger product for sports enthusiasts that ITT is making and Bausch & Lomb's Sports Optics Division is marketing.
Control on Environmental Systems Inc., a Bedford company marketing storage tank systems for petroleum and other hazardous liquids, is one of three Southern companies to win the 1994 Governor's Cup awards by the Southern Growth Policies Board. The citations recognize private-sector efforts to develop local and regional economies. The company in the past year has expanded from a single office with five employees to offices in Florida and California with a total of 12 workers.
Rowe Furniture Corp., Arlington-based manufacturer with operations in Salem, has increased its quarterly dividend 25 percent, from 2 cents to 21/2 cents a share, payable Oct. 14 to shareholders on Sept. 23.
Eli Lilly and Co., Indianapolis pharmaceuticals maker, said Friday it has completed acquisition of Sphinx Pharmaceuticals Corp., paying Sphinx shareholders $6 per share of common stock. Sphinx will be operated as a division of Lilly, with facilities in Durham, N.C., and Cambridge, Mass. Lilly said it will take a one-time pretax charge estimated at $60 million, or 14 cents per share, to pay for the acquisition.
