Yes, you can still wear jeans to school.
Now that we've gotten past that, let's talk plaid.
Are you thinking Catholic school, high tea, furrowed brows and buttoned-up collars and other uncool things?
You're wrong.
Sure, once it was conservative, but this year, it's not.
It's hip. It's happening. It's, well, whatever the current word is to describe ``I've got to have it!'' when you ask the parental units for money for back-to-school clothes.
Demi's wearing it. So is Daryl. Julia, too. Cindy? Of course!
And not on the runways.
Check out the party pages of Vogue, Elle or People. They're wearing it everywhere, from the movies to parties.
So I think you'll get away with it in algebra.
It's not just pleated skirts. (Yes, the skirts are short!)
There are leggings. And flannel skorts with suspenders.
It even comes in cool colors. It's not just red and blue. There's purple plaid out there, too!
This season it's OK if you're mad about plaid.
But it might not be if you're not.
Better tell Mom you've gotta have the plaid.
