The Maroons' defense limited Castlewood (0-1 in the district, 0-2 overall) to 73 yards and a single touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
Belcher finished the game with 78 yards on 10 carries. Jeremy Wolford carried seven times for 57 yards and a touchdown and Coeburn completed five of six pass attempts for George Wythe (1-0, 2-0).
Bassett 35, William Byrd 7: Cliff Wimbush rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns, and Chris Hairston threw for 86 yards and returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown to lead Bassett over host William Byrd.
Carl Watkins put the Bengals (1-0) on the board with a 58-yard run and Wimbush scored on runs of 9 and 70 yards to make the score 20-0 at the half. Bassett made it 28-0 when Hairston hit Tyree Hairston with a 28-yard scoring pass then threw for a two-point conversion.

The Franklin County drive was 10 plays, all on the ground, and covered 48 yards.
Laurel Park's Solomon Paddyfote returned the ensuing kickoff 49 yards to the Franklin County 36 before being driven out of bounds. On the next play, Darrell Wilson's pass to Paddyfote carried to the Eagles' 12.
