The Maroons' defense limited Castlewood (0-1 in the district, 0-2 overall) to 73 yards and a single touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
Belcher finished the game with 78 yards on 10 carries. Jeremy Wolford carried seven times for 57 yards and a touchdown and Coeburn completed five of six pass attempts for George Wythe (1-0, 2-0).
Bassett 35, William Byrd 7: Cliff Wimbush rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns, and Chris Hairston threw for 86 yards and returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown to lead Bassett over host William Byrd.
Carl Watkins put the Bengals (1-0) on the board with a 58-yard run and Wimbush scored on runs of 9 and 70 yards to make the score 20-0 at the half. Bassett made it 28-0 when Hairston hit Tyree Hairston with a 28-yard scoring pass then threw for a two-point conversion.
Franklin County 21, Laurel Park 20: At Rocky Mount, the Eagles stormed back from a 20-7 deficit to down the Lancers in a non-district game.
John Muse scored on a 1-yard run with 24 seconds remaining to tie the score 20-20, and Dan Berger kicked the deciding extra point.
The Franklin County drive was 10 plays, all on the ground, and covered 48 yards.
Laurel Park's Solomon Paddyfote returned the ensuing kickoff 49 yards to the Franklin County 36 before being driven out of bounds. On the next play, Darrell Wilson's pass to Paddyfote carried to the Eagles' 12.
With five seconds remaining, Laurel Park's Derrick Manns was wide right on a 30-yard field goal attempt.
Franklin County (1-1) rushed for 266 yards, led by Tony Muse's 153 yards on 23 attempts. John Muse added 90 yards on 12 carries.
Paddyfote rushed for 71 yards for the Lancers (0-1).
