Anthony, a native of Lynch Station who attended Staunton River High School, accumulated 103 rushing yards in the first quarter, including a 62-yard scoring run that put the Panthers on the board.
David Waddell kicked the extra point and added a 40-yard field goal in the third quarter to make it 10-0. West Virginia Tech (0-2) cut it to 10-8 on Tim Dorsey's 4-yard scoring run and a two-point conversion pass from Anthony Wallace to Curt Roper with 5:54 left.
The Golden Bears drove to the Ferrum 32-yard line in the final minutes, but quarterback Brian Massey was sacked for a 16-yard loss and then threw an interception.
Ferrum (1-1) had five interceptions, with Ian Edwards and Shelbin Northern each getting two. Linebacker Duane Woods had nine tackles.
West Virginia Tech place-kicker Brian Reller, who missed a 29-yard field goal attempt in the first quarter, was well short on a 42-yard field goal try midway through the fourth.
Anthony's rushing total was 11 yards short of the school record set by current Seattle Seahawks running back Chris Warren in a 1988 game against Rhodes College.
