You don't have to do anything special to have a lot of friends, but you have to try - at least a little.
Don't be too quiet. No one will bite your head off. But don't wait around for kids to come to you.
Be yourself. Don't try to be something you're not.
Don't worry if some kids laugh or make fun of you at first, because lots of kids tease people they don't know.
Don't show off, and don't be a loudmouth. Be cool, but not too cool.
Don't act bored or play dumb or interrupt or act strange.
Pick out some kids who look friendly or that you might fit in with and just say ``Hi.''
If there are other new kids in your class, introduce yourself, smile, act friendly or try to be helpful. They want to meet people, too.
Remember, there's nothing to be afraid of. Every kid was a new student at least once.
