Walkers will collect contributions for the American Heart Association in advance and do all or part of the 5K walk at their own pace.
Last year's walk benefited more than 3,000 people in a variety of educational programs, including in-service programs for Radford teachers on effective use of heart health materials in the classroom; the Heart at Work Program; New River Valley Nutrition Council programs and the Save-A-SweetHeart program.
Prizes will be awarded in various categories.

YMCA Open University's "QUALITY OF LIFE AT THE END OF LIFE": This special six-part class will explore the personal and social dilemmas arising from medical intervention that can extend life in the closing stages of terminal illness. Based on the Choices and Challenges forum held at Virginia Tech. All classes meet from 7:30-9:30 p.m., Blacksburg High School.
