TOYOTA TO JUMP U.S. CAR PRODUCTION

Toyota Motor Corp. on Tuesday announced plans to produce nearly 800,000 cars and trucks in North America in 1996, 48 percent more than the number of vehicles it now assembles in the United States and Canada.

Most of those additional vehicles will come from Toyota's plant in Georgetown, Ky., which will mean 500 more jobs there in 1996. The plant employs 5,500.
