Andrew M. Hudick, founder of Fee-Only Financial Planning in Roanoke, has been selected one of the top 60 financial planners in the nation by Worth magazine. The list is in the October issue of the New York-based investment publication.
Two other Virginia financial planners are on the list: Lynn Hopewell of Falls Church and Greg D. Sullivan of McLean.
The magazine said it solicited 300 nominations from financial specialists. It then examined each nominee's credentials, personal credit report and a copy of an actual plan prepared for a client.
Hudick is a certified financial planner and has qualified for the Registry of the International Association of Financial Planning.

NS safety train to stop at 6 cities
Norfolk Southern Corp. said Tuesday it will hold a series of public sessions to increase awareness about safe transportation of hazardous materials. A special train will originate in Roanoke the morning of Oct. 3 and head south, stopping in six cities.
The train will move from Roanoke to Bristol in the late afternoon of Oct. 3; to Knoxville and Chattanooga, Tenn., on Oct. 4; to Birmingham, Ala., and Meridian, Miss., on Oct. 5; and to New Orleans on Oct. 6.
On board will be representatives of railroads, trucking companies and chemical manufacturers who cooperate on behalf of Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response.

Rowe Furniture Corp., Arlington-based manufacturer with operations in Salem, reported net income of $1.6 million, or 16 cents per share, for its third quarter ended Aug. 28. That compares with $848,000, or 9 cents per share, a year earlier. Net shipments, the furniture industry's equivalent of revenues, reached $27 million, up from $20.8 million in last year's quarter.
For the nine months, Rowe reported net income of $4.6 million, or 47 cents per share, up from $2.8 million, or 31 cents, a year ago. Net shipments were $80.5 million, up from $62.1 million.
