GILES HAMMERS BLAND 50-17

Gina Claytor scored 13 of her game-high 15 points in the first half and Giles led 30-7 on the way to a 50-17 victory over Bland in a non-district girls' school basketball game Tuesday night.

Giles is 2-2; Bland 0-4.

Marion 51

Carroll County 34

MARION - The Scarlet Hurricane used a 1-2-1-1 press to force numerous turnovers while building a 16-4 first-quarter lead and went on to defeat the Cavaliers in a non-district game.

Becky Grinstead led Marion (3-1) with 12 points. Carroll (5-2) was led by Bethany Hill, who scored 12.

Alleghany 70

Bath County 36

LOW MOOR - The Mountaineers' full-court pressure took its toll in the third quarter as the Chargers fell in a non-district matchup.

Alleghany (2-2) led 33-17 going to the third, but Bath County (1-3) was having little trouble with the pressure. The Mountaineers then pulled away with numerous steals and layups.

Katie Craft led the onslaught with 19 points and nine steals. Natasha Chapman scored 17 points and Amanda Stover added 11 for Alleghany.

Jennifer Adams led the Chargers with 11 points.

Parry McCluer 38

Rockbridge County 15

BUENA VISTA - Misty Snider scored a game-high 12 points to lead the Fighting Blues to a rout of the Wildcats.

Parry McCluer (3-0) took a 26-7 first-half lead and held the Rebels (0-5) to one point in the second quarter.

PH-Glade Spring 25

RURAL RETREAT - Stephanie Kell scored 12 points as the Indians trounced the Rebels in a Hogoheegee District game. Rural Retreat (4-1, 2-1) led 15-8 after one quarter and held Patrick Henry (1-3, 1-3) scoreless in the second quarter to open a 24-8 halftime lead.
