WILSON POUNDS BATH COUNTY

Courtney Sondrol scored 16 of her game-high 25 points in the first half as Wilson Memorial cruised to an 83-23 non-district victory over Bath County on Wednesday.

Ashley Weaver added 16 points and Erin Perry 15 for the Green Hornets (5-0).

Tuesday's games

Magna Vista 64, Laurel Park 56: In Ridgeway, Tanesia Kellam scored 24 points as Magna Vista took an early lead and held on for a Piedmont District victory. Kathleen Speakman added 17 for Magna Vista (5-1 overall, 2-1 in the Piedmont). Laurel Park (1-2, 1-2) was paced by Toy Perkins with 15.

Martinsville 78, Dan River 32: At Ringgold, Jamie Farrington scored 22 points as the Bulldogs (3-0, 3-0) romped to a Piedmont District victory.

Bassett 63, Patrick County 62: In Stuart, Kim Hairston scored 25 points as the Bengals barely withstood a furious Cougar fourth-quarter rally in a Piedmont District game. Amy Nelson had 13 points for the Cougars (2-1) and Anita Huff and Summer East scored 10 each.

George Wythe 74, Holston 42: In Damascus, George Wythe's Lisa Garland led five double-figure scorers with 17 points as the Maroons blew past Holston in a Hogoheegee District game. Althea Lemieux added 12 points with Christy Terry chipping in 11 for the Maroons.

Radford 49, Rocky Gap 44: In Radford, the Bobcats made six of 11 free throws in the fourth quarter and outrebounded Rocky Gap 47-26 to outlast the Eagles in a non-district game. The Bobcats (2-3) were led by Crystal Hubbard and Sugar Morton who scored11 points each.

Auburn 56, Fort Chiswell 51: In Max Meadows, Sherry Smith scored eight of her 19 points in the fourth quarter and the Eagles hit 8-of-12 free throws in the final period to hold off the Pioneers in a non-district game.

Tygarts Valley (W.Va.) 69, Highland 36: The Rams fell behind early and never caught up in losing a non-district game.

Lord Botetourt 71, Covington 43: At Covington, Sara Hicks scored 12 of her game-high 24 points in a decisive third quarter run to lead the Cavaliers past the Cougars. Sara Moore scored added 19 for Botetourt (5-1).

Fieldale-Collinsville 67, Gretna 40: At Gretna, the Cavaliers (1-2) cruised to a Piedmont District victory behind Cicely Beckner's 18 points and Yvonee Hall's 16. Charita Dews led Gretna with 16 points.
