RELIGION BRIEFS

CROP WALK '94 for the Roanoke Valley will take place Oct. 9 beginning at 2 p.m. in Wasena Park. Registration will start at 1:30 p.m.

Last year's walk raised more than $14,000 for the relief of hunger.

Individuals and groups who want to walk and raise money should contact Debbie Denison of the Roanoke Area Ministries staff at 890-3128. She and the Rev. Mark Radecke pastor of Christ Lutheran Church, the sponsor, are walk coordinators.

ATTENTION DEFICIT DISORDER is the theme of a series of Sunday night classes in progress through Oct. 23 at West Salem Baptist Church, 500 Turner Road in Salem. "A Different Way of Dealing with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder - Christian Parenting," is in session from 6 to 7:30. The series, which costs $5, is led by Debra Maxey. She is mother of a child with the learning disability and is the author of materials on it. Call 389-2129 for more information.

FAITH ALLIANCE CHURCH, 7505 Barrens Road, has scheduled a concert by Brian Ball, a Christian singer and youth evangelist, for Sunday

JERUSALEM BAPTIST CHURCH, 1014 Norfolk Ave. S.W., will hear Katherine Pullens, a mission worker and retired educator, for its Women's Day observance Sunday . "Taking the African-American Woman Into the 21st Century" will be her theme for the 11 a.m. service.

Pullens taught for many years at the former Lucy Addison High School.

EMMA JEAN WOODARD of Oak Grove Church of the Brethren has become interim pastor of Troutville Church of the Brethren. The Rev. Peter Leddy, the former pastor, has entered administrative church work.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE, a program of education and fellowship for all ages, begins next week at St. John Lutheran Church in the Cave Spring area. For reservations for the 5:15 meal, call 774-0712 by Sunday.

The first night will feature a puppet party. The church also is beginning Monday night and Tuesday morning Bible studies with the night group starting at 7:15 and the morning class at 10. The church is at 4608 Brambleton Ave. S.W.

NORTH VALLEY ADVENTIST CHURCH, which worships at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 4904 North Lakes Drive, is sponsoring a Revelation lecture series led by Ken Wilber. Beginning Friday, and continuing through Sunday, Wilber will speak at 7 p.m. at Quality Inn on Virginia 419. On Sept. 21, 23, 24, 25 and 28, Wilber will speak at the church.

LONG-TERM CARE FOR THE ELDERLY will be the topic of a workshop Sept. 27 at 11 a.m. at the City Rescue Mission. A free lunch is included for the program, which is sponsored by a private financial service. Call 343-7227 for reservations.
