NEW SUPPORT GROUP SEEKS TO ENCOURAGE WOMEN

Take Courage is a new support group for women, sponsored by Remnant Ministries-Berean House Mission. Through seminars and other programs, Take Courage hopes to motivate and encourage area women - and especially single parents - to become "more dynamic and well-rounded," said Darlene Allen, the group's coordinator. "I'm really excited about it," she said, explaining she formed the group because she was unable to find anything else like it in the New River Valley.

Take Courage meets for an informal mixer Friday, 8 p.m., at the Berean House Mission, 2195 Roanoke Road, Christiansburg (just past Pilot Homes). Allen can tell you more at 381-4877.

The New River Valley Church Hotline has racked up over 2,000 calls since starting operation in mid-May. The hotline, begun by computer expert Ken Farrar of Christiansburg, provides information and announcements on five churches: Main Street Baptist, St.Paul United Methodist, Christiansburg Mennonite Fellowship, Trinity Baptist and the Virginia Tech Baptist Student Union.

Anyone using a Touchtone telephone can call the hotline at 382-2046.
