W.VA. MAN GUILTY

A Bluefield, W.Va., man has been convicted of first-degree murder and robbery of an elderly Bland County woman, and his brother is scheduled to go to trial for capital murder in December.

A Bland County Circuit Court jury convicted William James Buchanan, 59, Thursday in the death of 77-year-old Claudine Waddell. Her body was found in her burned home in October. An autopsy showed that she died from a knife wound rather than from the fire.

William and Fred Buchanan were arrested when authorities found items from the Waddell home in their possession.
