ATLANTA - A group that wants to preserve the house where Margaret Mitchell wrote ``Gone With The Wind'' is not deterred by a fire that destroyed most of the building.
Mary Rose Taylor, chairwoman of Margaret Mitchell House Inc., said a planned $2.6 million restoration project will be turned into a reconstruction project.
A fire gutted the 95-year-old midtown building Saturday, leaving only portions of brick and stucco walls standing.
The owner of the three-story house on Thursday refused the preservation group's offer to buy the house, Taylor said.
In 1988, the former owner wanted to tear it down, but then-Mayor Andrew Young stepped in. The house is on the city's list of protected historic landmarks.

National Park Service to be reorganized
WASHINGTON - Interior Secretary Bruce Babbitt has approved a plan to reorganize the National Park Service, downsize the Washington headquarters and place more employees in the field.
Instead of a planned work-force reduction of about 1,400 employees, the plan approved by Babbitt would reduce the cut to 450 to 500 employees.
To help ease the cutback, the Park Service will offer buyouts of up to $25,000 to employees who volunteer by Sept. 23 to resign or take early retirement by Jan. 3.
