GIVE MCGRUFF PRIZE-WINNING LOOK

McGruff the Crime Dog will be 14 years old in October. Next month also is National Crime Prevention Month.

Most all kids know who McGruff is, and many know his "Take a bite out of crime" slogan.

In connection with McGruff's birthday, the Roanoke Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce Crime Prevention Committee is sponsoring a coloring contest for kids in Southwest Virginia.

To enter, color the picture of McGruff and add a crime prevention tip underneath his picture.

There are three age groups: 3-5 years old; 6-8 ytears old, and 9-11 years old.

Entries will be judged on how well McGruff is colored and the usefulness of the crime prevention tip. There will be a first prize of a $50 savings bond, and a second and third prize awarded to winners in each group.

Winners will be notified and winning pictures will be exhibited and prizes awarded on Saturday, Oct.15, at Tanglewood Mall in Roanoke.

You may send or take your entry to the Roanoke City Police Department, Crime Prevention Bureau, 309 Third St. S.W., Roanoke. 24011.

Be sure to include your name, age, address and phone number with your entry. Entries must be received no later than Oct. 7.
