FOR THE RECORD

Because of an editorial assistant's error, the wrong day was noted in Friday's Out & About column for the upcoming talk by novelist Clyde Edgerton. Edgerton will speak Thursday at 7 p.m. in Radford University's Muse Hall banquet room.

Clarification

A letter to the editor in Sunday's New River Current, which replied to the contention that "no one was working on tourism for this area," was shortened for space reasons and much of David Thacker's response was not printed.

The Greater Blacksburg Chamber of Commerce has invested more than $62,000 in promoting tourism, Thacker, who is chamber president, said. Other projects include: gathering information for a map of a driving trip around the New River Valley, a Montgomery County Welcome Guide, and sending information to the many people who request it.

Thacker said the letter was not meant to appear as a criticism of New River Valley HOSTS but to show that other organizations had been working on tourism in the area.
