STATE SENATE PANEL TO MEET IN WYTHEVILLE

A legislative public hearing on sentencing reform including the abolition of parole and truth in sentencing will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the George Wythe High School auditorium.

The state Senate Committee for Courts of Justice and Committee on Rehabilitation and Social Services scheduled the hearing to gather comments on legislative proposals to be considered at the special General Assembly session.

State Sen. Jack Reasor, D-Bluefield, serves on the Courts of Justice Committee. State Sen. William Wampler Jr., R-Bristol, serves on the Committee on Rehabilitation and Social Services, and state Sen. Malfourd "Bo" Trumbo, R-Fincastle, serves on both.
