Global Showcase '94

RADFORD - More than 40 regional businesses and manufacturers will display product and service information on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Global Showcase '94 at Radford University's Dedmon Center.

The showcase is part of Industry Appreciation Week sponsored by regional governments and economic groups.

Auctioneer honored

RADFORD - The National Auctioneer's Association recently named Ken Farmer Realty and Auction Co. the winner of two first place advertising awards at their national convention.

The winners were picked from over 650 entries from the U.S. and Canada.

Cutathon, bake sale.

BLACKSBURG - Images by B Hair Salons of Blacksburg and Radford and the Blacksburg Jaycees raised $293 for the Muscular Dystrophy association with a cutathon and bake sale.

The money raised will help pay for patient services, children's summer camp, diagnostic testing and therapy evaluations.

Nominees sought

PULASKI - The Pulaski County Chamber of Commerce seeks nominations for the 1994 Business Executive of the Year award.

Nominees should be chamber members who have displayed excellence in business and community involvement in Pulaski County. Nominations must be received by Oct. 5.

Business exchanges

BLACKSBURG - Rotary International District 7570 seeks outstanding business and professional people to go on 4 to 6 week exchanges to Australia or the Philippines in the spring of 1995 under the Group Study Exchange Program of The Rotary Foundation.

The program goal is to improve international understanding by enabling people from different countries to learn from one another. No foreign language skills are required.

New SEC rule

BLACKSBURG - A new Securities and Exchange Comission ruling to take effect June 1, 1995 will give investors only three days instead of five to pay for securities purchases or to deliver certificates after a transaction.

The ruling is commonly referred to as "t plus 3" that stands for trade date plus three days.

RADFORD - The Radford Community Hospital has established an occupational health services program. The comprehensive program for large and small employers begins with pre-employment physicals and carries employees through retirement.

The program includes wellness and prevention services and work safety education.

BLACKSBURG - The Greater Blacksburg Chamber of Commerce's chamber member of the month for September is Cotton Tail Diaper Service.

In order to provide an ecological alternative to disposable diapers, Cotton Tail picks up dirty diapers and delivers clean diapers on a regular schedule.
