BLACKSBURG - The Montgomery County Christmas Store will begin accepting used goods Saturday, Oct. 1, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Northside Presbyterian Church, corner of Church and Eakin Streets.
Items donated should be clean and in good condition. Acceptable items include:
winter clothing for children and adults, household items such as blankets, sheets, pots and pans, dishes and utensils.

BLACKSBURG - The Automobile License Plate Collectors Association announces the fifth annual Old Dominion license plate swap meet will be held Saturday, Sept. 24, 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Donation auction is at noon.
Awards will given to best of show for out-of-state and in-state displays and for longest distance traveled to attend meet. The host of the swap meet in ineligible from any competition for awards.
Registration for Automobile license Plate Collectors Association members is $3. Tables are provided. The first table is free, additional tables are $1.
The public is welcome.

RU homecoming
RADFORD - Comedian Dennis Miller will perform at Oktoberfest, Radford University's homecoming celebration, Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. in Dedmon Center.
Tickets are available at the Heth Hall information desk and by calling 831-5420. Ticket prices are $10 with a Radford University identification card and $14 for the general public.
Oktoberfest activities begin Sept. 30 at 8:30 a.m. with the Highlander Golf Classic at Round Meadow Country Club. The two-day schedule includes the McConnell Library addition dedication, a Tyler Hall open house, class reunions, sports events, art shows and the annual Pigfest barbecue.
