Sometimes, when you want to expand your home, there's nowhere to go but down.

Finishing off the basement provides homeowners with 'cheap space,' said Bud Derey, one of the owners of Pitman Construction of Roanoke. Most of the time, he said "it's cheaper than putting on an addition or buying a new house."
