Pulitzer winner

RADFORD - Radford University's department of media studies will sponsor a lecture by Pulitzer Prize-winning foreign editor Jeff Sommer, Tuesday, Sept. 27, at 8 p.m. in Heth Hall Lounges A and B.

Sommer, who reported from China on events leading to the crackdown in Tiananmen Square, originally scheduled to discuss human rights in China will instead speak on the crisis in Haiti.

Sommer became Newsday-New York Newsday's foreign editor in 1989. He directed Newsday's coverage of the Gulf War that won the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting.

Water to be shut off

ELLISTON - Montgomery County Public Service Authority plans to shut off water to its Elliston customers as part of the ongoing improvements to the Elliston Water System.

Water will be shut off for four to six hours Wednesday, Sept. 28, 11:45 p.m. with service being restored Thursday, Sept. 29, 5:45 a.m.

82nd Airborne Division

ROANOKE - The Roanoke Valley Chapter of the 82nd Airborne Division Association wants to locate all former paratroopers and glidermen who served in the 82nd Airborne Division.

The group holds monthly meetings, dinners, picnics, dances and other get-togethers. An annual national convention will be held in Salt Lake City in August 1995.
