BLAND STOPS SHAWSVILLE COMEBACK

Bland County stopped a Shawsville rally and defeated the Shawnees 28-12 in a non-district high school football game Friday night.

The Bears jumped out to a 21-0 halftime lead but Shawsville (1-2) rallied, scoring 12 points in the third quarter.

James McAfee's 53-yard touchdown punt return in the fourth quarter iced the game for Bland County (3-1) and stopped Shawsville's second-half comeback.

David Lambert carried the ball six times for 35 yards and scored twice to lead the Bears.

Smokey Parmenter added another touchdown for Bland County.
