Bassett took a 28-20 halftime lead as Martinsville (7-2, 6-1) made only 24 percent of its field-goal attempts. The Bulldogs outscored the Bengals 45-41 in the second half, but couldn't make up for the first-half deficit.
Trecita Holland, Sam Ferguson and Erica Brandon each scored 16 points for Martinsville.

MARTINSVILLE - Kim Rich scored two of her game-high 24 points on free throws with seven seconds left to help the Trojans edge the Lancers in the Piedmont District.
After Rich hit the decisive free throws, Laurel Park (1-8, 1-6) threw away the inbounds pass and Tunstall hit a clinching basket.
Melissa Dixon added 21 points for the Trojans.
Isis Paddyfote scored 16 points to lead the Lancers, who were doomed by 12-of-37 free-throw shooting.

BUCHANAN - Lindsey Coleman scored 13 of her game-high 17 points in the first half to pace the Fighting Blues to the Pioneer District victory.
Parry McCluer (7-1, 2-1) scored only 11 points in the second half, but the Blues held the Knights to 10 points in the final two quarters.

The Highlanders used pressure defense to dismantle the Rockets in a Pioneer District game.
Glenvar (8-1, 3-0) led 41-16 at halftime. Marilea Hale finished with 19 points and Toree Morris had 18 for the Highlanders.
