A photo caption in Thursday's Current may have a wrong impression. The law prohibits keeping wild squirrels in captivity as pets, according to the State Game Warden.

The New River Wildlife Center has a permit to keep such animals until they can be returned to the wild. The Center told a Radford woman how to care for a squirrel until the squirrel could be brought to the Center.
