Bonnie Boardwine added 10 points for the Rockets (3-6 overall, 3-1 in the district). Tracy Caldwell and Laura Nelson each added seven rebounds late in the fourth quarter and in overtime.
Heather Vines scored 12 points to lead James River (1-7, 0-2) and Tiffany Cox tossed in 10.

INDEPENDENCE - The Buffaloes built a 33-point halftime lead and 11 players scored as Timesland's top-ranked team made the Blue Devils its 38th consecutive non-district victim.
Leigh-Ann Pursifull nailed two 3-pointers and finished with 21 points for Floyd County (11-0). Three other Buffaloes scored in double figures, led by Sara Conner (14), Emily Edwards (12) and Carrie Chaffin (10).
Grayson County (1-6) was paced by freshman Lindsey Carrico, who had 11 points.

RURAL RETREAT - The Indians failed to score a field goal in overtime and fell to the Panthers in a Hogoheegee District game.
Beth Ketner had 17 points and Tanya Tarter added 14 points and 10 rebounds for Rural Retreat (6-3, 4-3).

COVINGTON - Three players scored in double figures as the Cougars kept the Chargers winless in the Pioneer District.
Jo Ann Helton and Charlie Laws scored 15 points each for Covington (6-3, 3-1) and Bessie Laws added 13. Katie Hardbarger scored 16 points for Bath County (0-8, 0-3).

BLAND - Shannon Bragg scored 15 points and Chrystal Hubbard added nine as the Bobcats (5-4) kept the Rockets winless.
Amy Hanshew led Bland (0-7) with 10 points and four assists and Pachess Umbarger added five points and 11 rebounds.

BUENA VISTA - Freshman Lindsay Coleman hit five 3-pointers and scored 18 points to lead the Fighting Blues (8-1, 3-1) past the Rams (1-6, 0-3) in the Pioneer District.
Coleman, a 5-foot-10 freshman guard, hit three 3-pointers in the second half as Parry McCluer pulled away. She converted a three-point play with a basket and a free throw for her other points.
The Fighting Blues, who outscored Highland 26-6 in the second half, got 16 points from Chrystal Humphries, 12 of them in the first half to keep it close.
Shayla Shumate led the Rams with 10 points.
