OBIT CARTER, ROY ERNEST

CARTER, Roy Ernest, 57, of Bedford, passed away Thursday, December 30, 1993, in the Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born September 21, 1936, a son of the late William E. Carter and Osie Stinnette Carter. He was a retired employee of Piedmont Label, a member of the Quaker Baptist Church, a member of the Bedford Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law, Sallie C. and Seth McGuire Jr., Bedford; Offie C. Karnes, Roanoke; Cleo C. and Warren Frazier, Newport News; a brother and sister-in-law, William Edgar and Ossie Carter, Bedford; a sister-in-law, Nell Carter, Bedford; special friend, Linda Martin, Bedford. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, January 2, 1994, 2 p.m. from the Updike Funeral Chapel, Bedford, by the Rev. Lewis Garst and Dr. Michael DuVal. Interment will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Updike Funeral Home, Bedford, and request that those wishing to make memorials consider the Bedford Volunteer Fire Department or the Bedford Lifesaving Crew.
