OBIT BULLOCK, DR. RICHARD EDWARD
BULLOCK, Dr. Richard Edward, 76, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, December 30,
1993, at his home. Bullock was team physician for Virginia Tech athletics from
1971 until his retirement in 1988. He was also a staff member at the
University's Student Health Center. He was born in Toledo, Ohio, December 12,
1917. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Toledo in 1939
and was graduated from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in
1943. Bullock joined the army and served in the European theatre during World
War II from 1943 to 1945. He established a family practice in McArthur, Ohio
in 1948, and was the only doctor in all of Vinton County for much of the time
until 1971. Bullock is survived by his wife, Fran; his sons, Rick, Bill, Bob,
Mark and David, and a stepdaughter, Judy. Friends may call at McCoy Funeral
Home in Blacksburg from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. A memorial service will be held at
the War Memorial Chapel on the Virginia Tech campus, 1 p.m. Monday. In lieu of
flowers, donations should be sent to the Virginia Tech Athletic Department, VA
Tech, Blacksburg, Va. 24061. Arrangements are by McCoy Funeral Home,
