OBIT-PETERS, RUSSELL L. SR.
PETERS, Russell L. Sr., 82, of Grottoes, formerly of Salem, died Friday
morning, December 31, 1993. He was born June 30, 1911 in Cloverdale, Va., a
son of Daniel and Elizabeth King Peters. He worked 40 years with Virginia
Aetna Springs Bottling Company in Vinton. He became co-owner and later owner
before leaving the company in 1967. He worked for Diamond Chevrolet in Roanoke
and later transferred to Elliott Buick in Salem. Upon retiring in 1978, he
retired to Grottoes, Va. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church, Salem. He is
survived by his wife of 64 years of marriage, Blanche Poff Peters; two
daughters, Ann P. Dameron of Vinton, Patricia Lynn Wood and husband, Tommy, of
Harriston, Va.; a son, Russell L. Peters Jr. and wife, Judith, of Daleville; a
sister, Lucille P. Wright of Martinsville; a brother, George Peters and wife,
Dorothy, of McDermott, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Hallie Peters of Fincastle; a
special nephew, Jack Coffey and wife, Esther, of Roanoke; also surviving are
six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter;
and two stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's
Vinton Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Monday, January 3, 1994, with the Rev. Raymond
Ramsey officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call
at Oakey's Vinton Chapel.
